The technical notes

ON AXIS AND ARTICULATIONS

The groove part fastens the application while the sleek part serves as a rotation axis.

For a central groove :
The hole diameter has to be the nominal pin diameter (see tolerances).
The groove length must be 2 times the diameter at least.

For the retaining pins, a lateral groove will be more efficient than a central groove. The tightening will be on a length equal to the nominal diameter.

SHAFT AND TRANSMISSION END AXIS

Diameter and material resistance must be designed to ensure the rupture of the pin to protect the shaft.

AFNOR/DIN/ISO COMPARISON

2 main differences :

- The length of the part is given including the ends in ISO, before the ends in AFNOR and DIN.

- Tolerances for the nominal diameter and for the receiving parts are :

Concerning the drive studs :

- Round head : Height of the head in DIN and ISO less than in AFNOR.

- Countersunk head : 75° angle in DIN and ISO, 90° in AFNOR.

RECOMMENDATION

In normal conditions, the hole must be the nominal diameter of the pin with an ISO tolerance. We recommend when possible to have a male/female hardness equivalence.When the receiving part is harder than the pin, please chamfer the hole to avoid damaging the grooves.


IMPORTANT

The expansion diameter can only be measured with calibrated and regulary controlled rings.
The measurement method is go/no go.
The expansion diameter in stainless steel is usually less 0.05 mm than in steel.
